Super Saturday was held on the 10th July and was our first outreach to the many children who live on our area. About 30 people from the church were involved in various aspects of putting the day together and it was supported with much prayer.
The 10th July dawned with much hustle, bustle and excitement . Everything was organized and put into place, ready to begin the big day we had been much been anticipating.
The jumping castle sprung up, clown Kuda was robed into her shockingly bright and extravagant clown costume, balloons and banners were spread out to attract our crowd of little people we had geared the day for as orders were given out as to how, where, what, when and who.
Registration started at 9am till 10am, we had planned on a limit of only 70 children, but soon saw ourselves submitting a grand total of 87 children, and still having to unfortunately turn many away due to catering and planning purposes. From the registering process all children were seated for some bright and colorful face painting and then could proceed to jump on the jumping castle or join in on a game. Soon our church yard was filled with little bodies scampering around everywhere along with peals of laughter and a screeching and shouting, a signal that much fun was taking place. At 10am sharp the program for the day started, topping it off with a session of games. The children were split into groups according to ages and took part in various team and character building games, this ensured for hungry tummies that were eager to receive a lunch of Hot Dogs, orange slices and cool drink.
Our little guests were then ushered to the hall for a time of entertainment prepared just for them. There was a hysterical puppet show, where they met Mpho, Bangles and Farmer Dave, who taught us a vital lesson on repentance, forgiveness and what the Lord has done on the Cross for us. Mpho and Bangles the puppets then proceeded to lead us in a song that had us all pretty soon looking rather silly and laughing hysterically. The songs yet continued into action songs, which go the heart pumping and the blood circulating and had us all awake and alert for the rest of the program.
We had a special treat as Charle Smit first sang us a wonderful song of the Lords love and her then her sister Annerique Smit came in later and danced beautifully in worship unto the Lord to a song that proclaimed His glory.
Brian Watts shared about an account of a young boy in the Bible. He spoke on the story in the Gospel of John 6:1-15. This is the story of one little boy who had only a little to offer, but the Great Lord received it and multiplied what he had into enough for all and with plenty still left over. Brian used this story of this little boy who only had 5 small barley loaves and two small fish to illustrate that if we bring the little that we have to the Lord, He will multiply it and use it for His glory. We should never underestimate what little we have to give. The Lord wants us to bring whatever we have and who ever we are, even in our lack and allow Him to multiply and use it in what ever way He chooses, for His glory.
Soon the day was coming to an end and we had to start wrapping things up, but the children were very enthusiastic about us holding another Super Saturday soon and possibly regularly. We ended the day with a prayer of thanks unto our Lord and then sent our little guests off with a few treats to fill their tummies until supper time. We hoped with all our hearts that they had had a wonderful day, but most importantly that they had felt the love and heart of the Lord Jesus Christ for them, as this was our greatest prayer for them … that they went away with a touch of the Lord. We know we have sown seeds and we pray that the Lord, the One who brings growth, will protect these seeds and bring them to fruition.
So we waved them off and began our clean up program, which was no sweat at all actually because it rang true that many hands makes a lighter and happier load. We all worked together as a team and before we knew, our church grounds were back to its former state.
I think we can all say that it was a wonderful day that the Lord had allowed us to be a part of and we thank Him for this day! We truly had a Super Saturday!
Thank you Lord!
